Squirm and Germ is a high-energy music comedy duo created by Tim Girrbach and Rodney Umble.
These 2 MC's use their hip-hop alter egos to celebrate/parody their irreverent passions through an original, uproarious and self-deprecating voice. With influences ranging from The Gorillaz to Slick Rick and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, S&G produce infectious beats, 80's/90's inspired synth hooks, legit harmonies reminiscent of Rockapella, and rhyme faster than a kid who drank five Red Bulls at a sleepover. They are often compared to Flight of the Conchords, The Beastie Boys, The Lonely Island, and The Vienna Boys Choir.
S&G got their start training in improv at The Second City and the Upright Citizens Brigade. They have rocked the mic at numerous venues around NYC including The Apollo, Joe's Pub, Ars Nova, UCBeast, The Knitting Factory BK, Rockwood Music Hall, Tammany Hall, The Peoples Improv Theater, The Creek and The Cave, and the 92Y. Most recently they have been Official Selections of the 2016 SF Sketchfest San Francisco, 2015 Out of Bounds Fest in Austin, 2014 and 2015 Charleston Comedy Festivals, 2015 NY and Philly Funny Songs Festivals, the 2014 Piccolo Spoleto Fringe Festival SC, and headliners at the Norfolk Comedy and Cool Show (not lame) Festivals. Their rousing live performances have been compared to Electric Six and Digital Underground.
2014 and 2013 Toobies Nominees for Best Original Music Video. 2012 INNY Award nominees for "Maine, MoFo" (Best Comedy Song and Video) and ECNY nominated for best sketch comedy troupe with Drop Six (Official selections of Sketchfest NYC, Sketchfest Seattle, D.C. Comedy Fest, and winners of the Best of the Fest Award at the Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival).
Squirm and Germ released and produced their debut full-length album "Late Bloomers" in 2011. The record was engineered, mixed/mastered and co-produced by Sammy Bananas of Fool's Gold Records and is available on iTunes and Amazon, and streaming on Pandora and Spotify.
In 2012 they released their single/video "Pregnant in the Club" and won Second Place after performing it live at the world famous Apollo Theater on August 15th.
Their new EP 'Naked On A Horse' was co-produced with Sammy Bananas and is available on iTunes and Amazon, and streaming on Spotify.
